When I say the "typical" systems, I mean the systems that are not subsystems. Subsystems will have their own sections. Typical systems may or may not have a headspace, it depends. Sometimes they have multiple for different "sections" or "groups" of alters, again, it depends. Every system has at least one other alter or system member in it, obviously, but sometimes the number of alters can drastically change from eight to maybe just four without members going dormant. It's called a system reset, where the system somehow gets overwhelmed and all members, the headspace, everything, is reorganized, changed, or seemingly different or "gone". Only memories are left the same or incredibly similar. This leaves the system different and "rebuilt", leading to appearing emotionless for a bit before it restabilizes. When a system resets memories aren't changed, the members that hold them just change and get edited or messed with, leaving them appearing to be gone or different. When the system rebuilds the memories separate into the edited or changed alters where it decides. This may make you more or less split, it depepnds on how much was rearranged. I'm not sure how they happen. I believe it's due to overwhelming the system or causing stress or having great trauma occur, so be cautious. Destroying a system cannot happen really, that isn't how it works. It can be edited to a degree it looks like a new one, but it will not be destroyed. Things have just been rearranged to a great degree making it look different and have everything appear gone, they've just been hidden, not destroyed
Some systems can be cover or overt, which we have a section on, it all depends on the system, so does system members. Typically when you're younger you have fewer members and when you're older you have more, but this may not be the case for everyone. It all depends on the system
